Ten Hag offers update on Rashford after Wolves absence

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confessed that he does not know when Marcus Rashford will return to action.

The England international picked up an injury ahead of Saturday’s 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers. And was described as ‘doubtful’ by Ten Hag before the game. And he ultimately failed to make the matchday squad.

With just two weeks remaining of the season, Rashford faces an obvious race against time. If he is to return and help United’s push for a top-four finish, and Ten Hag admitted he does not know whether the 25-year-old will be seen again this campaign.

“I can’t tell [what the latest is] in this moment,” Ten Hag told UFABET Sport. “He is not available. So for this moment, we have to focus on the team who is available.

“I can’t tell in this moment [how long he will be out for] and as I say, it’s not my focus point in this moment.

“I hope [he will be back soon]. Of course. And he will do everything that can be done. The medical staff is working hard on it.”

United have three games left this season, beginning with a trip to Bournemouth on Saturday 20 May.

Chelsea are then due at Old Trafford five days later before United close out the campaign with a visit from fellow west Londoners Fulham on 28 May.

Ten Hag’s side currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, tied on points with third-placed Newcastle United and with a four-point cushion ahead of rivals Liverpool in fifth. All three sides have played the same number of games.

If Ten Hag finds himself needing to replace Rashford in the coming weeks, he could well turn to goalscorer Alejandro Garnacho. The 18-year-old came off the bench to replace the struggling Jadon Sancho against Wolves and made the most of his eight-minute cameo with a goal to secure United’s victory.
